Only 45 of these iconic dry sump 2.2 Turbos were manufactured during 1980 & 1981 and according to DVLA only 7 or 8 remain taxed, or on SORN.

This late car VIN No: 10941. Car No.17 (a genuine factory recorded Essex) had 6 owners up to 1984, and then remained in the same family for the next 36years. It was first registered in January 1981.

The car had its many coats of paint painstakingly removed by hand down to the gel coat and re pained and assembled to an exacting standard of detail, this was done following an engine rebuild and major overhaul. This included all brake parts, new suspension, bushes and springs, headlight lifts, etc. (most supplied by S J Sportscars) with several parts specially manufactured to produce what is now a beautiful presented example. (for e.g. see the engine cover detail the rebuilt compomotive 15” rims and centres).

The car sports a very original beautiful 80’s red interior, including the iconic ‘Panasonic roof mounted stereo’ and all the original glass re-assembled and re fitted, along with new exhaust, braided hoses, etc.

This is very much a one-off unique opportunity to acquire a piece of Lotus history, as the real-deal original RHD Essex cars, finished in the fabulous Essex International Petroleum liveries, have not been seen in the market place for a considerable time.
